Varnish finishing

An outstanding finisher/varnisher requires patience, diligence, lightness of touch and a desire for perfection - qualities which lead to the high shine finishes achieved at Peter Freebody & Co. Experience gives a subtle understanding as to the correct feel of varnish and paint under brush, and techniques developed over many years remain a closely guarded secret.  However, bringing out the natural beauty of the timber is not simply about 'the final coat' but is equally a reflection of the painstaking and time consuming preparation work carried out - from raw timber, through the process of planing, sanding and careful application of layer upon layer of varnish, all the while awaiting the ideal temperature and weather conditions to enable a final glorious finish coat.
