“Odile” was first
discovered by Peter Freebody, lying in a very sorry state, on
the Macclesfield Canal in the early 1980’s and was subsequently
brought to Hurley where she was extensively rebuilt, before
being refitted with her Belliss steam engine. She differs from
most steam launches in that her source of fuel is Calor Gas,
making her both convenient and clean to use - steam can be
raised in15 minutes and unlike coal fired engines there is no ‘ashing
out’ to be done at the end of each trip.
“Odile” is extremely
elegant and can comfortably seat 12
She complies with
current Boat Safety regulations & carries a valid boiler safety
certificate.
