'Baby Greyhound' - 50ft slipper stern launch built by Andrews of Bourne End in 1936

Built 1936 by Andrews of Bourne End, Baby Greyhound is without a doubt one of the most striking launches ever to grace the waters of the River Thames.

One of only two slipper launches ever to be built to this specification of 50ft, Baby Greyhound is the only example surviving today having undergone major restoration works by Woottens Boatyard during the 1990's.

Her spacious main cockpit provides ample seating for twelve people, with bench seat aft and ten traditional Lloyd Loom chairs, all upholstered in Donnington perforated denim blue leather with contrasting leather scatter cushions. There is further seating for two in the small forward cockpit.

Originally built for leisure cruising in great style, Baby Greyhound played her part during WWII after being seconded to the Home Guard for the purpose of patrolling the upper reaches of the Thames, complete with machine gun mounting fitted into the forward cockpit.
